CIVR History
CIVR or the International
Conference on Image and Video Retrieval has a history dating
back to 1998. Back in 1998, there were several UK based meetings on the
Challenge of Image Retrieval (CIR): CIR98
(Newcastle, UK), CIR99 (Newcastle, UK), and CIR2000 (Brighton, UK).
In 2002, the first CIVR Conference, CIVR2002
was held in London, UK.
Its proceedings were published by Springer Lecture Notes in Computer
Science series (LNCS 2383). The
new aspects of CIVR were that it would be a truly international meeting
and that an equal focus would be on video retrieval.
Following that year in 2003, CIVR2003
was held at the Beckman Institute, University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, IL, USA. The proceedings were published by
Springer Lecture Notes (LNCS 2728).
CIVR2004 is the
3rd International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval and it was
held from 21 until 23 July 2004 at Dublin City University, Ireland.
The proceedings were published by Springer Lecture Notes (LNCS 3115).
In 2005, CIVR2005
the 4th International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval,
the 6th conference in the series of visual information retrieval
meetings. It took take place in the School of Computing, National
University of Singapore, Singapore on 20 - 22 July 2005. The
proceedings were published by Springer Lecture Notes (LNCS 3568).
In 2006, CIVR2006
the 5th International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval,
the 7th conference in the series of visual information retrieval
meetings. It took take place in the Arizona State University in Tempe
Arizona, USA from 13 until 15 July. The proceedings were published by
Springer Lecture Notes (LNCS 4071).
CIVR2007, the 6th International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval, was sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and endorsed by International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). The conference was held in the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands on 9-11 July 2007. The proceedings were publichsed by ACM (CIVR'07).
